This week will be devoted to finishing To Kill A Mockingbird chapter discussions and the continuation of diagramming...with the addition of indirect objects and compound sentences.
Although we might not get to discuss the final chapters of the novel on the dates scheduled on the reading schedule, ALL STUDENTS should have the book completed by Thursday, February 6th. The date for the test will be announced at the end of the week.
Also, this week will be slightly modified because the 7th grade will be going on a "field trip" on Monday. Therefore, there will be no regular classes on that day. We will NOT have a vocabulary unit because of that. Also, I will not be in class, on Thursday, Feb. 6th because I am accompanying our Spelling Bee winners (Aidan Kramer and Brett Satisky) to the district Spelling Bee at the Cottage School, in Roswell. Students will use that class time to catch up on any reading for To Kill A Mockingbird.
Monday: 7th Grade field trip to various religious facilities throughout the Atlanta area. This is, always, one of my favorite trips. It allows the students to see and experience the different religions in the Atlanta area and compare them with Judaism.
Tuesday: (Blocks 2, 3 and 5) We will go over the chapters (up to, and including, Chapters 25 , 26 and 27). We will, also, continue with diagramming practice...with the introduction of indirect objects and compound sentences.
Wednesday: (Block 2 and 3) continue with Chapters 28. We will use this class to "catch up" on any chapters we have not covered. Review of diagramming of sentences. Students will come up to the board for some competition. (Block 6) Same as Tuesday's schedule.
Thursday: I will not be in class, today (Mrs. Cheryl Willis will be the "sub."). ALL students will use this time to "catch up" on any reading of To Kill a Mockingbird. REMEMBER: ALL STUDENTS SHOULD HAVE THE BOOK COMPLETED BY TODAY, FEBRUARY 6TH. Any chapters that we have not covered, will be addressed in the coming days. The date for the test will be announced on Friday.
Friday: We will use today as a review and "catch up" day for any chapters not discussed. Also, there will be a contest on diagramming, where the class will be divided into 2 teams to compete for some "homemade goodies".

Weekly Plans for January 27 - 31, 2020
This week will be devoted to working on Vocabulary # 13 (pages 166-172), Continuing with To Kill a Mockingbird, and diagramming sentences. The completion date of reading TKAM is February 6. Although we may not read the chapters in class as scheduled, it is extremely important that ALL students complete the book by that date (Feb. 6th). The date of the test will be decided at a later date, as we near its completion.
Also, diagramming of sentences will continue to get more "involved", and it is imperative that ALL students pay attention, in class, and ask any questions they may have during the class time.
Monday: Vocabulary # 13 (pages 166-172) for the first 10 minutes. Completion of this unit will be the homework for the next time the class meets. Continue with chapter 16 and 17 for discussion. We will introduce compound subjects and compound predicates to diagramming sentences.
Tuesday: Go over the Vocabulary homework (pages 166- 172). Continue with Chapter 18 of TKAM. Introduce indirect objects to diagramming sentences ( Blocks 2, 3 and 5)
Wednesday: (Blocks 2 and 3) Review for Vocabulary quiz on Friday. Continue with Chapters 19 and 20 of TKAM Have some diagram practice, including all we have learned to date. (Block 6) Same as Tuesday.

This week is devoted to the continuation of To Kill a Mockingbird discussions and developing more complex sentence diagramming. There will not be a vocabulary unit, this week, due to MLK day on Monday (No Classes). By the end of the week, all students should be finished with Chapter 16. There will, also, be an assessment on diagramming, probably on Friday, in lieu of no vocabulary quiz.

Tuesday: Continue with Chapters 11 -13 of T.K.A.M. Diagram review and practice for a possible quiz on Friday. (Blocks 2, 3, and 5)
Wednesday: Continue with Chapter 14 and catch up with previous chapters, if necessary. Do some board work with diagramming. (Blocks 2, 3 and 6).

Plans For January 13 -27, 2020
This week will be devoted to Vocabulary Unit # 12 ( pages 148-155), continuation of To Kill a Mockingbird practicing diagramming sentences. As scheduled, the students are going over the novel, chapter by chapter, in class. The test date will be determined as we move closer to the completion of the book. The diagramming of sentences will continue to become more and more involved, as we increase the lengths of the sentences and include more parts of the sentences to identify. The students know to participate and, always, ask questions when they feel they do not clearly understand what has been discussed in class. It is imperative that the students advocate for themselves and stay on task, both with the To Kill a Mockingbird and the diagramming of sentences.
Monday: Vocabulary # 12 ( pages 148 -155) First 10 minutes. What ever is not completed in class, will be completed for homework.Continue with the scheduled chapter discussion of TKAM. If, for some reason, we are not able to get to the scheduled chapters for a specific class, then, we will continue where we left off from the previous class period. Weekly Plans for January 6 - 10, 2020
This week will be devoted to Vocabulary # 11 (pages 138 -144), The introduction of diagramming sentences and the handing out of To Kill a Mockingbird, which will be our next novel. Also, there will be a school-wide Spelling Bee on Thursday, January 9 in the gym at 2:50.
Monday: Vocabulary #11 for the first 10 minutes. We will introduce diagramming of sentences by having a review of the parts of a sentence. I realize some students may have a "bad taste" in their mouths about diagramming sentences, but I assure you, they will feel more and more confident as the weeks move forward. A copy of **To Kill a Mockingbird will be distributed to all students. Homework will be to complete the vocabulary (pages 138-144).
Tuesday: Blocks 2,3 and 5 will go over the vocabulary homework. We will have students come up to the board to begin some diagramming of sentences. There may be a handout to be completed for homework. Students will, also, be responsible to keep on task with the required readings of To Kill a Mockingbird.
Wednesday: Blocks 2 and 3 will review vocabulary words for the quiz on Friday. They will continue with diagramming practice and introduction to the novel To Kill a Mockingbird. Block 6 will go over the vocabulary homework and do Tuesday's class work.

Week of December 16-20, 2019
This week will be devoted to the review for the mid-term exams. Last week, we started the review and, this week, we will continue with it. The review will consist of different approaches to making sure the students have the opportunities to improve their knowledge and prepare themselves for the mid-term.
The Vocabulary mid-term is on Wednesday, December 18, while the grammar and essay portion of the mid-term will be on Friday, December 20.

Weekly Plans for Dec. 2 - 6, 2019
This week will be devoted to the seven(7) uses of the noun and Vocabulary unit # 9 (pages 110-117) This, actually, is the original plan for the week of November 18 - 22, because there was a change in those plans. We showed the film version of "Flowers for Algernon" instead of the original 7 uses of the noun. I will also have a one on one with all students about their stories.
Monday: Vocabulary Unit #9. This will be done for the first 10 minutes of the class. We will, then, start discussing the 7 uses of the noun. Homework is to complete Vocabulary unit # 9.
Tuesday: (Blocks 2, 3 and 5) Go over the vocabulary homework. Students will receive some handouts during the course of the week to help review of the 7 uses of the noun.
Wednesday: (Blocks 2 and 3) Continue with the 7 uses of the noun. Students will go up to the board to answer any questions. This will be a student-driven class.
