This week will be devoted to Vocabulary Unit # 12 ( pages 148-155), continuation of To Kill a Mockingbird practicing diagramming sentences. As scheduled, the students are going over the novel, chapter by chapter, in class. The test date will be determined as we move closer to the completion of the book. The diagramming of sentences will continue to become more and more involved, as we increase the lengths of the sentences and include more parts of the sentences to identify. The students know to participate and, always, ask questions when they feel they do not clearly understand what has been discussed in class. It is imperative that the students advocate for themselves and stay on task, both with the To Kill a Mockingbird and the diagramming of sentences.
Monday: Vocabulary # 12 ( pages 148 -155) First 10 minutes. What ever is not completed in class, will be completed for homework.Continue with the scheduled chapter discussion of TKAM. If, for some reason, we are not able to get to the scheduled chapters for a specific class, then, we will continue where we left off from the previous class period. Any diagramming will take place towards the end of each class (if time), to ensure the understanding of the different parts of the sentence and where they are located in the actual diagram. There will be much "board work" during this.
Tuesday: (Blocks 2, 3 and 5) Go over the vocabulary homework (pages 148 -155). Continue with TKAM and diagramming of sentences.
Wednesday: (Blocks 2 and 3) Review vocabulary for Unit 12 quiz on Friday. Continue with TKAM and diagramming of sentences. (Block 6) Same as Tuesday.
Thursday: (Blocks 5 and 6) Same as Wednesday.
Friday: Vocabulary # 12 Quiz. Recap the weeks chapters of To Kill a Mockingbird and and questions of diagramming. Do one sentence on the board for practice. There will be a quiz on diagramming the next week.
