This week will be devoted to Vocabulary # 14 ( 176-182), final review and the test for To Kill a Mockingbird, diagramming of sentences and the introduction of the persuasive essay for the "Macy's Project". The test date will be Friday, February 14th. All students will be informed of the test format. The vocabulary quiz will be scheduled for Tuesday for Blocks 2, 3 and 5, and on Wednesday, for block 6. The introduction of the persuasive essay is the basis for the Macy's project. This "favorite" assignment of the year includes writing a persuasive essay, learning how to fill out a job application, understanding what it means to be introspective, and learning the important skills for a real-life job interview. The end result for this assignment is the opportunity to work at Macy's Perimeter for a day. What a "life-lesson"!
Monday: First 10 minutes...vocabulary # 14 ( pages 176-182). The completion of this will be for homework on the next day the block meets. Review for the TKAM test. Discuss the test format. Practice diagramming and introduce the persuasive essay with a brief power point.
Tuesday: Go over the vocabulary homework. This whole class is devoted to final review of To Kill a Mockingbird (test is on Friday)and the Macy's project. Students will be exposed to filling out a job application and how to be introspective.
Wednesday: Review for Vocabulary quiz #14 (Blocks 2 and 3) Continue with diagram practice.
Thursday: Same as Wednesday for Blocks 5 and 6. Final Q and A for the To Kill a Mockingbird test
Friday: To Kill a Mockingbird test
